What happened
On the evening of 6 January 2017, emergency services were called to Knabs Ridge wind farm near Harrogate after a fire broke out at one of the site's eight turbines. The wind farm has a total capacity of 16 megawatts. On-site personnel alerted the fire service, which attended and dealt with the blaze. The turbine was reported as destroyed, with debris in the fields below that staff were cleaning the following day. The remaining turbines remained operational. A spokesperson for Innogy Renewables UK Ltd said there were no injuries and that an investigation had been launched to establish the cause.
