A fire broke out at the Yaldwyn Road substation in Jet Park, within the Ekurhuleni metropolitan area, on 9 October 2017. The blaze damaged electrical equipment and caused power outages across several suburbs, including Jet Park and parts of Ravensklip. A spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni metro said a dedicated team of engineers was working around the clock to replace the damaged equipment. Power supply had been restored to most affected areas by the following day, with restoration to the remaining areas expected by that weekend and daily progress reports promised to residents. Residents were asked to stay clear of the site for safety reasons. Injuries were not reported either way in the source.
