What happened

A substation is reported to have exploded in Birkirkara, Malta, in Triq Ceżalpina on 22 January 2019. Police confirmed the incident, saying there had been a loud noise and some smoke, and that officers were on site along with an ambulance and a fire engine. No one was hurt. The cause of the explosion, the extent of damage to the substation and any resulting power outages were not reported.
