What happened

On 7 March 2017 a fire broke out in a group of lithium battery containers at a lithium-ion battery energy storage power station in Shanxi, China. The source, a Chinese fire-safety industry article citing a list of energy storage fires, does not name the specific site, operator or capacity. The same facility is reported to have experienced a further fire on 21 December of the same year, in which a second container (No. 2) burned. Injuries, evacuation, emergency response and root cause were not reported.
