On 7 September 2018 at around 14:54 local time, a fire broke out in a container housing lithium-ion batteries at a solar power facility in Taean-eup, Chungcheongnam Province, South Korea. The container was used to store lithium-ion batteries charged from solar generation. Fire authorities reported that approximately 200 to 300 batteries were destroyed in the blaze. A resident passing the site noticed smoke and flames and alerted the fire service. The fire was fully extinguished. The source report does not mention any injuries or fatalities.
