What happened
On 19 January 2025 at approximately 14:59, a fire broke out at an energy storage system (ESS) facility in Bugui-myeon, Jinan-gun, North Jeolla province, South Korea. The fire damaged part of the facility ceiling (approximately 3 square metres) as well as batteries and modules. Fire services estimated the property damage at around 6.1 million Korean won. No injuries were reported. Firefighters who responded to the report extinguished the blaze after approximately 3 hours and 31 minutes. Police and fire authorities were investigating the exact cause of the fire at the time of reporting. The facility name, operator, capacity and technology supplier were not disclosed in the source report.
