What happened
On 3 April 2024 a fire affected Pristina Substation 3, a KOSTT substation in Pristina, Kosovo, according to Kosovarja, citing a statement from the distribution company KEDS. KEDS said the damage was extensive. After inspections by Kosovo's relevant authorities, KEDS teams began clearing the affected facilities and assessing the situation. Using alternative lines, KEDS said supply had returned to about 11,000 consumers, while around 10,000 others were still without electricity.
KEDS said more than 50 of its workers had been mobilised and that work would continue into the late hours. KEDS said it expected KOSTT to activate a transformer to help restore supply; the source's wording on this step is unclear. The source does not report the cause, injuries or a restoration time.

Lessons learned
- Maintain alternative supply routes so that a single substation fire does not leave large numbers of customers without power for long.
- Agree in advance between transmission and distribution operators who restores equipment such as transformers, and how activation is requested.
- Let authorities complete inspections of fire-damaged substations before crews re-enter, and plan the clean-up and assessment that follows.
