On Wednesday afternoon a fire broke out in a house at Pastelblauw in Rosmalen, shortly before 13:00. The fire was reported to have started in the roof and caused heavy damage to several solar panels. As far as is known, nobody was injured. Firefighters attended with an aerial platform and a pump appliance and fought the fire from more than one side. Police also attended and the area was closed to other traffic. How the fire started has not been established.

  1. A roof fire can badly damage rooftop solar panels even when the origin of the fire is not yet known.
  2. Firefighters may need elevated access to tackle a roof fire involving solar panels from more than one side.
  3. Until the cause is known, the roof and panels should be treated together when isolating the system and investigating the damage.
