A headline in the Corsicana Daily Sun on 8 August 2022 says that VFDs contained and extinguished a fire at a solar farm. The material available to the register does not say where the farm was, how the fire started, what was damaged, or what VFD means. It should not be read as a report that variable frequency drives put the fire out.

Not reported. The headline does not give a cause or say whether solar equipment was involved.

  1. A headline alone does not establish the ignition point, the equipment involved or the extent of damage.
  2. Until a full report is available, treat the cause and any effect on generation as unknown.
  3. Solar farm emergency plans should still cover access for fire crews and electrical isolation.
