Transformer explosion at new al-Farabi power station in Baghdad kills one

What happened
On a Monday reported on 14 September 2026, an electrical transformer exploded inside the state-owned new al-Farabi power station in Baghdad. The Iraqi electricity ministry said one staff member was killed while on duty and three other employees were injured and taken to hospital.
