Thunderstorms damage equipment at three substations and two transmission lines

What happened
On 7 August 2026 a heavy band of strong thunderstorms was reported to have damaged equipment at three substations and affected two transmission lines. By the morning of 9 August, power was mostly restored. An AES outage map at 8:20 a.m. still showed 28 customers without supply in Montgomery County and one in Greene County. The substations were not named, and the report does not say how long the remaining outages lasted.
