One technology only, as data for your models? A free 20-record sample, and a 3-month pilot of one set for £1,500. A planning pack or the verified safety record? See For companies.
How the register is kept
- Every incident links the public reporting it comes from, so any figure can be checked.
- A correction request is acknowledged within 2 working days and decided within 10. How corrections work.
- The energy site pages are built on official open data: the UK government's Renewable Energy Planning Database, the U.S. Energy Information Administration, France's national register of installations (ODRE), the World Resources Institute's Global Power Plant Database and Global Energy Monitor.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe; the register never sees your card.
The register's own rule: every entry cites its sources, and a correction is free for anyone.
What a subscription opens today
Counted from the paid records when the site was last built. Each number is how many records have that field filled from a public source.
There are 1,952 records behind entries. 1,400 give the root cause. 1,315 give the part that failed. 185 name the manufacturer. 1,145 name the operator. 89 give the downtime. 43 give a loss figure from a source. 33 give the age of the asset.
About the loss and downtime estimates. Every entry has an estimate, but most are estimated by the register. Each estimate works out from the entry what equipment was damaged and prices it. Only 43 records have a loss figure taken from a source, and 89 have the downtime from a source. Each estimate says which kind it is. How the estimates are made.
What is in the register today. 2,242 published entries (1,129 grid infrastructure, 385 solar, 302 onshore wind, 179 data centre), of which 1,952 have a record behind them and 289 of those are corroborated by two independent sources. 135 added this week, 735 this month. Every entry, verified or not, lists the sources it was written from. Prices are set for what the register holds today, not what it will hold in a year.
We publish this because it decides whether a plan is worth it to you. The free register covers every published entry. A verified record is built for an entry only when public sources support the detail, so the paid layer is younger and smaller than the register itself and grows every day. If the coverage for your technology is not there yet, wait, and take the free alerts in the meantime.
Not sure yet? Request the free sample pack: three full verified records and the benchmark table, by email.
Why pay when the register is free?
The free register tells you what happened, as the public reporting tells it. The paid records turn that into structured data: who built, integrated and operated the asset as fields you can filter and count, what failed and why, the failure mode, capacity and chemistry, age at incident, downtime, loss estimate, insurance and regulatory action, and every source, with each record carrying its verification status. They are built from public sources (fire service reports, regulator filings, court records, operator statements, trade press) and cross-checked against each other rather than lifted from one report. That is what underwriting, lending, due diligence and procurement decisions need.
Questions
How do I pay?
By card through Stripe. Prices are set in pounds; outside the UK the payment page shows the exact amount in your currency. Annual plans can also be paid by invoice, made at once: Team or Analyst for a year. Fill in the name for the invoice and download it; access comes as soon as it is paid. Prices exclude VAT where it applies.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time from your account page. Access continues to the end of the period you have paid for.
What does "verified" mean?
Each paid record carries a status: unverified (single public claim), single source (one authoritative source), or verified (two or more independent sources agree). The methodology page explains the process and the accuracy disclaimer explains the limits.
Does paying change the free register?
No. The free register stays free and is edited the same way regardless of who subscribes.
Can I use the data in my own models or products?
Analyst and Team plans cover internal use inside your organisation. Products, models sold to others, and redistribution need an Enterprise licence (see For companies). See the data licence.
How is the data verified?
Each record carries a status. "Verified" means two or more independent sources agree on the key facts. See the methodology and the accuracy disclaimer.
