Lessons learned
- Transformers at wind sites need fire detection and automatic isolation so that a fault is contained before flames spread.
- Operators should keep fire response plans and site access routes available to local fire services.
- Residents and passers-by are often the first to detect a fire at a remote site, so operators should publish an emergency contact that people can use to report smoke or flames.
