Lessons learned
- Operators of electrical substations serving gas well sites should assess fire risk and access arrangements where the site lies close to schools or other public buildings.
- Early notice to local schools and the public helps families make decisions quickly when a nearby energy site is burning.
- Pre-incident plans shared with local volunteer fire departments, including expected time on scene, support a faster and safer response at remote or small substations.
