Teenager injured in electric substation fire in Sandakan

An electric substation was reported to have caught fire in Sandakan district on 6 September 2023, at about 1pm. A 14-year-old sustained burns to the face, body, arms and legs. The cause of the fire, and how the teenager came to be at the substation, were not reported.

The cause was not reported.

  1. Where a member of the public is hurt at a substation, access control and public warnings should be reviewed, without assuming how the person came to be there.
  2. A substation fire can cause serious burns even when only one injury is reported.
