Transformer explodes and catches fire in Texarkana during winter storm

Jan 2026Published 30 Sept 2026

A transformer was reported to have exploded and caught fire in Texarkana during a severe winter storm. The event was caught on camera. The short report does not say whether anyone was hurt, whether power was lost, or which operator was involved.

The report places the explosion during a severe winter storm. It does not say whether the weather caused or contributed to the failure.

  1. Severe winter weather can coincide with transformer failures, so operators should be ready to inspect assets after storms.
  2. A video of an explosion is not a full record: confirm injuries, supply loss and the asset owner before closing the event.
  3. Early public reports should be rechecked when a fuller account appears.
