Substation explosion and fire near Seventeen Lakes Boulevard, Fort Worth prompts evacuation

In January 2025, at about 19:15 local time, an explosion occurred at a substation off Seventeen Lakes Boulevard and Henrietta Creek Road in north Fort Worth, Texas, causing a large fire close to a residential area. Emergency services attended and approached around 20 nearby homes, offering voluntary evacuation. No mandatory evacuation was issued. About three hours after the initial report, the attending fire service stated publicly that crews were holding position while deciding whether to allow the fire to burn out or to attempt active suppression.
