An explosion was reported at a Consolidated Edison electrical substation in Thornwood, part of the town of Mount Pleasant, New York, at around 1pm, according to Mount Pleasant police. Commerce Street was closed in the vicinity of the substation. No injuries were reported. A Metro-North Railroad alert issued at 1.33pm warned Harlem Line customers of delays of up to 15 minutes due to a Con Edison oil spill in the vicinity of Hawthorne.
