On 28 March 2018, a wind turbine roughly two miles south of Weatherford, Oklahoma, caught fire. According to Oklahoma Forestry Services, the burning turbine threw sparks to the ground, igniting a grass fire that grew to about five acres before being contained. Eight fire engines responded to the scene. Injuries were not reported either way in the available reporting. The wind farm, operator and turbine manufacturer were not identified in the source.
