Fire broke out at the Alagbon electricity substation in the Dolphin Estate area of Ikoyi, Lagos Island, in the early hours of Thursday 3 May 2018. The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) said the fire started at around 5:00 a.m. after a loud bang was heard. Emergency officials were alerted and video circulated on social media showed firefighters working to put the fire out.
